Google to disable their Pagespeed service soon

Just got message from google stating that they will soon disable their pagespeed service soon and warned everybody that used or still using google pagespeed service to remove and reconfigure their website DNS to make sure their site will continue to work properly.

See the mail from Google:

On July 28, 2011 we announced PageSpeed Service, an online service to automatically speed up web pages. In the last 4½ years, PSS has delivered millions of pages for thousands of sites, all for free. While a number of sites continue to enjoy the benefits of PageSpeed Service, we see much broader adoption of PageSpeed technology through our open-source products and have therefore decided to focus our efforts on improving those.

Today we are announcing that PageSpeed Service will be turned off
on 3rd August 2015
. Users must change their DNS to point away from
the service by this time, or their sites will cease to function.
We have created a migration page that includes assistance for
changing DNS as well as information on other ways PageSpeed technology
can be employed on websites. Please see

At the same time we are also announcing the deprecation of PageSpeed integration with Google App Engine. If you are using PageSpeed integration on Google App Engine, it will continue to function until 1st December
2015, after which PageSpeed optimizations will no-longer be applied to your app. No action is required on the part of App Engine users;
after this date apps will continue to operate, except without the benefit of the PageSpeed optimisations. Users that wish to pre-emptively disable PageSpeed can follow the instructions at

The open source PageSpeed server modules mod_pagespeed and ngx_pagespeed and the PageSpeed Optimization Libraries are unaffected by this announcement and development on these will continue.

The PageSpeed team.

Now you have seen the announcement from google and its time to reconfigure your DNS to point to your own server and failure to do that will result errors.

Facebook rolls out video calls on Messenger in Nigeria, Norway, Oman, US & others

Facebook on Monday began rolling out video calling on its Messenger mobile application, enabling face-to-face conversations among users of the app around the world.

With the new feature, users can add video to calls to another person with the same application.

“You can quickly start a video call from any conversation with just one tap,” Facebook said in a statement.

“If you’re messaging with someone and realize that words just aren’t enough, you can simply choose the video icon in the top right corner of the screen and start a video call right from within an existing Messenger conversation.”

Similar services are offered by Microsoft’s Skype, Google Hangouts and Apple’s FaceTime.

Facebook last year broke off Messenger from the main Facebook application for mobile users, creating a separate platform which now has some 600 million users.

The world’s biggest social network also opened up Messenger to outside developers as part of its strategy to create a “family” of apps that also includes Instagram and WhatsApp.

Free calling has been available for two years to users of Messenger, although people may be required to pay for data used during the connections.

“Video calling will expand Messenger’s real-time communication features, enabling the more than 600 million people who use Messenger every month to reach others wherever they are, from anywhere,” the statement said. “It’s fast, reliable and high quality.”

Video calling in Messenger is launching for people using Apple or and Android devices in Belgium, Britain, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Laos, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, the US and Uruguay and will hit more countries over the coming months.

Facebook has offered few hints on how it will monetize Messenger, but recently unveiled a system of peer-to-peer payments which could be adapted as an e-commerce platform.

Another Messenger allowed users to communicate with online merchants, essentially turning formerly impersonal Internet shopping into ongoing text message conversations.

konga Affiliate Marketing Tips to make more money

I have outlined some great affiliate marketing strategies/tips you can use to drive more sales and increase your commission/earnings on the affiliate program.

1. Cloak Affiliate links

First things first, avoid those ugly affiliate links by using a link cloaker. It’s the best way to make your affiliate link decent and short and at the same time increase your click through rate. To make things easy, we have a feature on the platform called DirectLink that allows you register your website and then be able to link to any product on site without adding your unique ID, This way we will still be able to track your sale otherwise your can also use the link cloaking feature and make your website look smarter

2. Write Reviews

Writing reviews is another working strategy and in my opinion I think it’s the best affiliate marketing tip. Here you’re talking about a product on just one page and this will give your readers more insight on the product you’re reviewing. If you really want to get the best out of reviews then you must mentions the features of the products you’re promoting (pros and cons), another way is to also compare your products with competitors as it’ll convince your readers into buying the product you’re promoting.

Getting the best out of Reviews

Don’t let the chronological order of your blog drown your reviews in the oceans of your archive instead you can use these little tips to make your reviews visible to your visitors

Creating a special category for reviews is the first thing you must consider. Use a rating plugin to rate the product you’re reviewing, the number of stars determines the quality of the product. If you own a website hosted with WordPress, there are few plugins that does this magic such as Author hReview, This can be configured to display recent reviews on sidebar. The more visible your reviews (and affiliate links in general) the higher the chance of making more sales.

3. Use Affiliate Links on your Post

I know it’s a no-brainer but I still have to include it for formality sake and to waste some white space too :). Instead of using direct links on products you’re recommending, try as much as possible to use affiliate links no matter how small the commission is. In fact selling a product of #5000 naira is easier than selling a product of #100,000 naira. The price of a product doesn’t actually matter, if you’ve used a product, you can recommend it to your readers regardless of how cheap or expensive it is, it all depends on the quality of the product you’re promoting. Try to cultivate the habit of blending affiliate links in your blog post and don’t depend on reviews only.

4. Email Marketing

The money is in the list, that’s a very common saying and I’m sure you know that. Are you building your list the right way? The best way to do this is to use optin forms around your blog and bait your visitors with an offer they can’t afford to bite. One thing I noticed about email marketing is that if you promote affiliate product, you’ll make some sales followed by a high rate of unsubscribers (5% – 10% or more). Don’t use your list as money making machine by bombarding your subscribers with products but minimize the interval and build your subscriber’s trust first by giving them tips, send them your new blog updates & giveaways and so on.

5. Make Use of Banners

Another advantage is making use of banners on your blog, it could be your sidebar, footer, above your content or header. You can get the banners of affiliate products in the dashboard and implement the code (a one time code) on your blog. Do you know that banners do get the highest click through rate than other tips mentioned above? This is due to its attractive pictures and descriptions and it works more if those pictures keeps changing with interesting offers. You can join Konga or checkout their products
Make use of this tips above, and you will definately see great improvement in your performance.
